Common questions
What does the app check?
The titles, descriptions and SEO texts of your active and draft products (and of your collections on Pro), in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish and Polish. It looks for the kinds of environmental claim the EU restricts since 27 September 2026: generic claims like “eco-friendly”, “carbon neutral” claims based on offsetting, self-made eco labels, future climate targets and specific claims that need proof.
Why is “eco-friendly” high risk but “recyclable” only “check”?
Generic claims are banned unless the specific benefit is stated with them or the product has recognised excellent environmental performance, such as the EU Ecolabel. Specific claims like “recyclable” are allowed when true, so the app only asks you to make sure you can prove them.
A finding is wrong for my product
Click “Ignore here” on that finding. If you can prove a claim everywhere (a certificate, a test report), Pro lets you approve it once for the whole store and keeps the proof for audits. If a word is flagged wrongly for everyone, tell me with “Suggest an improvement” and I’ll fix the list.
I fixed a product in Shopify. Why is it still listed?
It’s cleared as soon as Shopify tells the app the product was saved, usually within seconds. SEO texts are only read during a full check: use “Scan again” on Home (once an hour).
Does the app change my products?
Only when you click “Remove” or “Replace with…” on a finding (Pro), and only those words. Links and formatting stay as they are, and every change is listed in the audit export.
Does it use AI?
No. It uses a list of words and phrases checked by a person, so the same text always gets the same result and your texts aren’t sent anywhere.
Is this legal advice?
No. The app points out wording that is likely to be a problem under Directive (EU) 2024/825, but whether a claim is allowed depends on your product and your proof. Check with your national consumer authority or a lawyer if in doubt.
How do I cancel Pro?
Open Plans in the app and click Cancel Pro. Your store keeps being checked every month on Free.
